Plot summary
After seven years in juvenile hall for a baby taken from a porch in a Baltimore suburb, Ronnie Fuller and Alice Manning come home. Alice says she is innocent and blames Ronnie. Ronnie works at a bagel shop; Alice spends her days walking the town and telling her mother, Helen Manning, a teacher, that she is job hunting. Two weeks after their release, a couple shopping for furniture report their daughter, Brittany Lyttle, missing. Detectives Nancy Porter and Kevin Jones question both young women. Flashbacks return to the day of the pool party, when Ronnie saw an unattended baby in a stroller.
