Plot summary
Sixty-eight boxes of 35mm and 8mm film sat in a Kansas salt mine, part of a studio archive. The reels held outtakes from Elvis Presley's Las Vegas shows, material from his tours, and a 1957 performance in a gold jacket. None of it carried sound, so a team spent two years restoring the images and syncing them to existing recordings of the songs. A separate find, an audio tape about 45 minutes long, captured Presley talking through his own life; the tape surfaced during research for a 2022 biographical film about him. The project draws too on reels of 8mm material held by the Graceland archive, setting the concert performances beside the singer's own account of his story.
