Plot summary

Ethan is an emo, and after being expelled from private school he starts at Seymour High, where the cliques are split between the Christians and the emos. Trinity, a Catholic girl who wants to convert him, greets him on his first day, but what Ethan wants is a place in the alternative rock band Worst Day Ever, led by the dangerous Bradley, who is at odds with Isaac, the head of the Christian band. Ethan auditions and is taken into the emo fold, black eyeliner and all, along with Roz, his possessive girlfriend. When a class assignment pairs Ethan with Trinity to write a love song, the two meet at his house, where she asks him why he is an emo.
