Plot summary
Fifteen-year-old Elfie lives with her mother in a small room in Berlin, and her mother is looking for any job. Elfie dislikes her mother's lover, the room and her own life, and she wants to collect money for a new, better apartment. That is how she meets Darius, a wheeler-dealer. The time is the period just after the Berlin Wall came down, and Elfie inhabits, literally and figuratively, a no-man's-land between the two Germanies.
