Plot summary

Ryan Ferguson was twenty years old in 2005 when he was convicted of a crime he did not commit and sentenced to forty years. Part of the case against him came from Charles Erickson, a classmate who said he had dreamed that Ryan was the killer. Ryan's father, Bill, spent the next decade trying to prove his son's innocence, keeping attention on the case and working with lawyers on appeals, among them Kathleen Zellner, an attorney from Chicago. The film also follows claims about Kevin Crane, the Missouri prosecutor, who is accused of pushing witnesses to implicate Ryan, holding back evidence and using flawed interrogation techniques.
