Plot summary
West of Memphis examines the case against the West Memphis Three. Three eight-year-old boys were killed in West Memphis, Arkansas, in 1993, and in 1994 Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley, teenagers from the same town, were convicted of the murders and imprisoned for more than eighteen years. Supporters of the three men protested their innocence, and the film follows the defense's investigation and appeals, drawing on interviews with lawyers, judges, family members, journalists and witnesses, as well as with the men themselves. A privately funded inquiry assembled evidence that challenged the case against them.
