Plot summary
Dr. Durea, the last of the Frankenstein line, works from a secret laboratory behind the Creature Emporium, a haunted house on the boardwalk of Venice, California. In a wheelchair, he has his mute assistant Groton bring him young women for experiments to perfect a blood serum, and a dwarf named Grazbo, the exhibit's ticket taker, helps them. Count Dracula offers a bargain: he will restore Frankenstein's monster, exhumed from a grave in Oakmoor Cemetery, in return for the serum, which he believes will let him stand in sunlight. Judith Fontaine, a Las Vegas showgirl, arrives searching for her sister Joanie, last seen among the hippies led by Strange, and a biker named Rico and his gang take an interest in her.

- Director Al Adamson and producer Sam Sherman were unhappy with the rough cut of their biker film, so they made the horror elements more prominent, added Dracula and Frankenstein's monster, and retitled it Dracula vs. Frankenstein.
- Both leads were seriously ill during the shoot: Lon Chaney Jr. had throat cancer and J. Carrol Naish had emphysema, and the film turned out to be the last for both actors.
- Al Adamson and Sam Sherman wanted John Carradine to play Dracula, but he was too expensive, so Roger Engel, a professional fundraiser who had helped them meet investors, took the role under the stage name Zandor Vorkov.
- When the filmed ending was judged unsatisfactory, a new finale was shot, but John Bloom was unavailable to play the Monster, so Shelly Weiss, an acquaintance of star Zandor Vorkov, was hired for the part.
- To decorate Dr. Durea's laboratory, the filmmakers rented props that Kenneth Strickfaden had created for the 1931 Frankenstein, and Mel Brooks later used those same props for Young Frankenstein.
- Chaney was so frail during filming that he had to lie down between takes and spoke in a whisper, which led to his character being made mute.
