Plot summary
Maya Dolittle shares her family's ability to talk to animals. Her grades and test scores are unimpressive, and after a failed tryout with young animals she lands on the wait list at San Francisco College's veterinary program, with four weeks to impress the admissions committee. Then President Sterling asks her father, away on an expedition, to help with Daisy, the presidential dog, who has taken to urinating and biting visiting dignitaries. Sterling is counting on a deal with Prince Tharoor of Kalampura to protect a rain forest, and the signing is eight days away. Maya goes to the White House in her father's place, hoping for a presidential recommendation, and meets the aide Cole Fletcher, the chief of staff Dorian, Sterling's daughter Courtney and Dorian's assistant Selma.
