Plot summary
Dina is a young Russian filmmaker at work on a film about the Stalinist repressions and the intergenerational trauma they caused, a subject that still resonates in Russia today. Johan, her friend, is a German sound designer. His grandfather disappeared in the Soviet Union during the Second World War. The pair set out together for the places where the Soviet labor camps once stood. Those lands are almost deserted, yet they still carry traces of the people who perished there. The journey brings a measure of relief to both of them, and it tests the bond between the two of them.
