Plot summary
A flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai goes down over the Pacific. A power bank stowed improperly in the cargo hold ignites, and the blast ruptures the cabin and destroys one engine. Captain Rich and first officer Ben set the aircraft down on the ocean, where it hits a coral reef and the survivors are split into three pieces of wreckage. Cora, her stepbrother Finn, and the crew members Penny and Zoe are among those on board, and sharks circle.

- Deep Water began as a planned sequel to Bait 3D but was scrapped in March 2014 because its Pacific plane-crash plot had, in the studio's words, "uncomfortable similarities" to the real disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.
- Deep Water opened at only #8 in the US/Canada box office with $2.1 million from 1,675 theaters, then collapsed fast, dropping 63% in its second weekend and 83% in its third to just $142,907.
- The shelved project was revived in May 2023 when Gene Simmons and Arclight Films chairman Gary Hamilton formed Simmons/Hamilton Productions, picking the long-dormant Deep Water as the new company's first film, directed by Renny Harlin.
