Plot summary
In a United States of economic and social turmoil, the New Founding Fathers of America rise to become the country's most powerful party and announce an experiment on Staten Island. For twelve hours, citizens may act on their inhibitions, including murder. Residents who remain are offered $5,000, with more for those who take part, and participants wear tracking devices and contact lens cameras. Gang boss Dmitri orders his dealers to lie low, but one of them, Capital A, joins the Purge, and a young dealer named Isaiah is attacked by a drug addict named Skeletor. Nya, Isaiah's sister, treats the wound; she campaigns against the Purge and once dated Dmitri. On the night itself she waits in a church with her friends.
