Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Death Curse of Tartu (1966)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- While shooting in the Everglades, the crew used a real boa constrictor in one key scene; the snake suddenly lunged at the actor, which added realism but increased the risk to the performers.
- Doug Hobart, who played the shaman Tartu, persuaded director William Grefé to drop the planned simple rubber mask; after dreaming the character's face he built his own makeup, a wrinkled, dense face with heavy brow ridges and bone-like inserted teeth.
- According to Brian Senn, the screenplay was written in twenty-four hours and the entire film was shot in just seven days on a budget of about 27,000 dollars.
- After «Укус смерти» was finished, the distributor ordered William Grefé to quickly shoot another picture to play on a double bill; that is how Death Curse of Tartu went into production.
- Frank Weed, who played Sam, supplied his own animals for the attack scenes, and some of those scenes were filled out with stock footage; for the final cut his voice was dubbed by another performer.
