Plot summary
The space station Dante 01 orbits a fiery planet named Dante, housing a psychiatric detention center where six prisoners with severe crimes chose experimentation over execution. Commander Charon runs the facility with psychiatrist Perséphone and guards CR and BR. A shuttle delivers scientist Elisa and a silent prisoner found as the sole survivor of a shipwreck; the man has a tattoo on his arm reading George. Elisa is authorized to test a nanotechnology that rewrites DNA. The religious inmate Raspoutine names the newcomer Saint-Georges, the Dragonslayer, and believes he was sent by God. Elisa and Perséphone disagree over how to treat the prisoners, Perséphone favoring a humanist approach while Elisa pursues her experiments.
