Plot summary
Luke witnesses the aftermath of a shooting at a coffee shop as a child and meets Daniel there, a boy the other onlookers cannot see. The two become close, until Daniel tricks Luke into poisoning his mother Claire with her own psychiatric medication. Claire has Luke lock Daniel inside an old dollhouse. Years later, Luke is a college freshman who worries about his social life, about caring for Claire and about inheriting her mental illness, a fear he shares with his therapist, Dr. Cornelius Braun. Sleeping at his childhood home, he opens the dollhouse. Daniel returns, now grown, and helps Luke at school and at home.
