Plot summary
Don Bellows is a prominent architect engaged to Gail Armitage. He meets Joyce Heath, who was a promising young actress on Broadway before she became penniless and began drinking. Her Juliet had inspired Don to become an architect, and he feels deeply indebted to her. He takes her to his Connecticut home to help her recover, and he falls in love with her. Joyce is convinced that she ruins whatever she touches, and she warns Don that she is a jinx. He is compelled to save her.

- Steven Spielberg anonymously bought the Oscar Bette Davis won for Dangerous at a 2002 Sotheby's auction and gave it back to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences; the statuette had been displayed by the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain.
- Bette Davis won the Best Actress Oscar for Dangerous but always saw it as a consolation prize for not being nominated for Of Human Bondage, and believed Katharine Hepburn should have won for Alice Adams.
- Bette Davis turned down the Dangerous script, but Warner Bros. production chief Hal B. Wallis convinced her to take it; her character Joyce Heath was inspired by one of Davis's idols, actress Jeanne Eagels.
