Plot summary
Allie Foster works as a maid at an American hotel until she is dismissed for failing to have a guest's room ready on time. Fergus, a servant to one of the hotel's patrons, overhears and hires her as governess to a child in the country of Winshire. The girl is Princess Theodora, and her father is the widower King Maximillian. Theodora, mischievous since her mother died, finds her match in Allie, who brought up her younger brother and sister after their parents died. Chancellor Riggs presses the king to marry Lady Celia.
