Plot summary
Winston Thorpe is a multimillionaire who does not trust his wife, Indigo, and treats her badly. At an auction he buys an Imperial Egg for $20 million, outbidding Santiago Valdez, a rich Argentinian who flirts with Indigo after the sale. Convinced his wife is sleeping with Santiago, Thorpe pays a private detective to follow her and bring back evidence of the affair. Indigo identifies the detective right away and approaches him herself, telling him that Santiago is gay. She befriends the investigator, and the two of them work out a plan to leave Thorpe, carrying off the egg, his most prized possession, before they go.
