Did you know?!Facts and trivia about City Hunter (1993)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The Street Fighter character in the film was renamed from "E. Honda" to "E. Honde" because Jackie Chan had a contract with Mitsubishi Motors at the time and Honda was the name of a rival company.
- A scene cut from the theatrical and LaserDisc releases, restored on later versions, has one of Kaori's suitors ranting about foreign tourists, meaning Richard Norton's band of terrorists, and hoping they die of AIDS in Chinese. Distributors removed it fearing foreign audiences would find it homophobic.
- Near the end of filming, stunt performer Mars doubled for Jackie Chan in shots of his final fight with Richard Norton, to save time on reshoots.
- Richard Norton and Gary Daniels said director Wong Jing worked without a set script, writing dialogue for the actors to ad-lib on the day of filming.
- The live-action City Hunter was made after a poll of Japanese Jackie Chan fans showed enthusiasm for him playing Ryo Saeba.
- Filming was mostly aboard a real cruise ship and on location in Hong Kong, with the final scene shot in Tokyo, but the ship's massive lounge was a set built at Shaw Brothers Studio.
