Plot summary
Ava paints in New York and has plans for a Hawaiian holiday until her workaholic boyfriend calls the trip off. On the other side of the country, Mason, a widower in California, and his daughter Mia spend Christmas on their own. Mia has her eye on a dog and decides that renting out the family guest house will bring in money and show her father she can handle responsibility. She posts the listing and chats with Ava through a holiday rental site, and Ava, unaware of Mia's age, books the place in Tinsel, California. When Ava arrives and sees who her hosts are, she offers to pack and go, but Mason and Mia ask her to stay for the holidays.
