Plot summary
Suzy Mayor leaves the hospital for home in Conway, South Carolina, to spend her last days with her husband, Duncan. Natalie, the hospice nurse, comes with her to look after her. Duncan is beside himself with concern for his wife and annoyed at everyone else, Natalie included. For Christmas he decides to build a real Ferris wheel in the backyard, the ride where he proposed to Suzy as a young man, so that she can relive the moment. The neighbors and townspeople of the quiet Southern town object to the plan. Duncan is determined to see the gift built, whatever the objections.
