Plot summary
Kate Baker has written a book about her family and hopes a friend will publish it. Her husband Tom coaches football at a small college in Midland, Illinois, where the two have raised twelve children. When Tom's old teammate Shake McGuire offers him the coaching job at his alma mater in Evanston, Tom takes it and moves the whole family into a bigger house, although the children voted against the move. Tension fills the new house, and school brings more trouble. Kate's book is accepted and she leaves on a national tour to promote it, so Tom brings in their oldest child, Nora, and her boyfriend Hank to help with the younger children, who make Hank the target of a prank.
