Plot summary
James Balog, a nature photographer, once doubted climate change. A first trip north, through Greenland, Iceland and Alaska, convinced him of humanity's effect on the planet and left him determined to show the public what he had seen. He had asked himself how a person could photograph climate change at all, and the answer he found was ice. Within months he started the Extreme Ice Survey, an effort to record seasonal change at glaciers around the Arctic. His crew sets time-lapse cameras at the ice and travels between sites by helicopter, canoe and dog sled. The project stumbles early: cameras fail and break down, and Balog's health suffers, with knee complications.
