Plot summary
Seventeen-year-old Doug Martin spends the summer at his parents' lake house. When Elliot Harper, a wealthy investment banker, moves in next door, Doug is drawn to Harper's young wife, Lena, who is often alone while her husband travels for business. Harper gives Doug work on his sailboat, which gives him an excuse to spend time with Lena, and the two begin an affair; for Doug it is a first, and Lena buys prepaid cell phones so the two of them can talk. Lena warns Doug that Elliot is possessive and jealous, and she shows him injuries that she says her husband caused.
