Plot summary
Sibi is a young man in a hurry to make it big, and he looks for easy money by fraudulent means instead of seeing to his duties at home. Trouble of his own making sends him to Cheenkannippara, where he takes charge as caretaker of an old palace. The forest around the palace has its own legends, and Sibi goes looking for a treasure that is said to lie somewhere in the jungle. Sameera travels with him on the expedition to find it.

- Principal photography on Carbon was originally meant to begin by the end of March 2017, but the "state-of-the-art" movie camera the makers ordered from abroad only arrived in August, so shooting started by mid-August instead.
- Director Venu said Fahadh Faasil was in his mind for the lead role from the start, explaining that Carbon was conceptualised and written with Fahadh in mind and that he could not have made the film with someone else.
