Plot summary
Sam and Violet, Sylvester's owners, go to California for a vacation and forget to put him out of the house. The cat is shut inside on his own for two weeks with no food and no milk, and the doors are locked. A cupboard holds canned tuna and other fish. He looks for a can opener, but a mouse has the only one and will not let him have it. The mouse uses the tool to taunt him. Sylvester tries one trick after another to get at the tuna without an opener, and to get the opener away from the mouse.
