Plot summary
Chris Carver carves his own decorations for his neighborhood's annual Christmas contest and has never come out ahead of Bruce, the neighbor whose inflatables keep taking the prize. Days before Christmas he loses his job, which raises the stakes of the $100,000 award that Prism Cable hands to the winner. Shopping for supplies with his youngest daughter Holly, he wanders into Kringle's, a Christmas shop, and buys a tree-shaped zoetrope built around The Twelve Days of Christmas. The shopkeeper, Pepper, tells him to sign the receipt, and he does, without reading the small print. The piece wins the family attention at the contest. The next morning the figures on the tree are missing, seven swans are paddling in the pool, and Carol, at work, is set upon by six geese and three French hens.
