Plot summary
Chihiro works at a bento stand in a seaside town, serving customers alongside Tae and Bito, the couple who own the shop. She once worked in the sex trade and makes no apology for it. Her real name is Aya, and she took Chihiro from a woman she met as a child. Around her are Kuniko, a shy girl who takes photographs of her in secret, and Makoto, who lives with his mother Hitomi. Basil, her closest friend, falls for Utsumi, the man who used to be her boss, and begins working at his aquarium shop. Lonely people keep coming to the stand, and Chihiro has a way of making them feel at ease.
