Plot summary
Aggie Prejean is a 67-year-old Black Cajun and the godmother of Skye and Elle. The two girls have disappeared, and the only clue Aggie has is a forgotten laptop. She has little money and little influence, and she is certain her time to act is short. She approaches Richard and Lottie DuMonde, wealthy and well-connected people in New Orleans, hoping her account will move them to help. She also turns to the girls' uncle and his son Wil, a former Special Forces soldier.
