Plot summary
After the Civil War, the Army's black cavalry corps, the Buffalo Soldiers, guarded the Western territories. Its ranks held men who had once been enslaved and other African-Americans, serving in the 9th and 10th Cavalry Regiments. In 1880 a column of these horsemen arrives at a small frontier town after long marches and hard battles. The townspeople will not let them ride through and make them walk, while their Apache opponents treat them otherwise. Victoria, an Apache leader, and other warriors grant the troopers a name of honor, Buffalo Soldiers. Among the men are Sergeant Washington Wyatt, Corporal William Christy and Corporal Sea. The column rides out after Victorio.
