Waldemar Kalinowski
Biography
Waldemar Kalinowski is a production designer who was born in Austria and raised in Warsaw, Poland. He studied physics and mathematics at the University of Warsaw and later earned a Master of Fine Arts from Cal Arts in California. His film work includes five collaborations with director Mike Figgis, among them Leaving Las Vegas, Internal Affairs, and Liebestraum. He also designed Crazy Heart, Appaloosa, Stigmata, The Lost City, Dance With Me, Wrestling Ernest Hemingway, and Kisses (2008). For television he designed the HBO pilot Treme with Agnieszka Holland directing and John Frankenheimer's final film, Path to War. Earlier credits include Rough Magic, The Boost, and Powder. He has also designed stage installations, music videos, commercials, and television projects. He began an acting career with a role in Heaven's Gate (1980).
