Plot summary
Jimmy Dade is a housewife married to a violent man, Frankie, and she remains with him even after his attacks leave her deaf. During one fight she blacks out and wakes in a hospital. Frankie's car has been found with a dead body that cannot be identified. John Box and Andrew Ramsey, the officers on the case, suspect she killed him and begin assembling a case against her.
