Plot summary
Mani is a bakery and restaurant on the shores of Lake Toya, in Hokkaido, run by Rie and Nao Mizushima. Nao is the baker, and he bakes the bread. Rie is the chef, and she prepares the food in the restaurant. The shop serves a variety of customers, some of whom come with personal problems. After they leave, they feel only happiness. Around the shop the scenery is beautiful in all four seasons.

- Before filming started, actor Yo Oizumi spent time working as a baker's apprentice to prepare for his role in the film.
- The film marked the 30th anniversary of actress Tomoyo Harada's debut, and it gave her her first main role in a film since Kamiya Etsuko no Seishun in 2006.
- The film's theme song, Hitotsu Dake, was originally sung by Akiko Yano and Kyoshiro Imawano and was first released back in 1980.
