Plot summary
Stan and Ollie are spending an evening at home with their two sons, Little Stan and Little Ollie, while their wives are out for the evening. The fathers settle in for a game of checkers and then a game of pool, and the boys play with blocks nearby. The children squabble and try to stay up past bedtime, and the men have just as much trouble getting through a single game. When a vase is smashed, both boys are sent upstairs to bed. The fathers turn to a game of billiards, and the noise from the boys' room carries on above them.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Brats (1930)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- To make Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy look like children, every room of the house was rebuilt in large scale with oversized furniture and duplicated doors and staircases, leaving the "children" as tall as a doorknob and a sink.
- Brats was the first of only three Laurel and Hardy films in which the pair each played a dual role, as themselves and as their own children; the others were Twice Two and Our Relations.
- Brats also inspired a helper group for the Michigan tent of The Sons of the Desert, a group made up of all the child members of that tent.
- The mouse that Little Stan nearly shoots with a pellet gun in Brats was not a real animal but an animated one.
