Plot summary
Nearly ten years into the AIDS epidemic, the members of ACT UP Paris accuse the French government of dragging its feet on the fight against the virus. The group stages public protests, and when the pharmaceutical company Melton Pharm says it will present its HIV trial results at a conference the following year, members take over its offices with fake blood and call for the results to be made public. In large meetings, they argue over strategy, some demanding direct action, others wanting to bring scientists into the conversation. Nathan, a gay man who is not HIV-positive, is new to the group, and he is drawn to Sean, an HIV-positive radical militant.
