Plot summary
Henry Copper is an English novelist whose restrained love stories keep passion at a distance. His one published book sells poorly until his publisher, Jen, tells him it is a hit in Mexico and sends him on a three-city signing tour. Maria, the translator, meets him on arrival and drives him around with the Mexican publisher Pedro, her son and her grandfather. At the first signing a large crowd turns out, and Henry cannot understand why readers keep talking about sex. Maria tries to mislead him and softens what people say in her translations. She rewrote his novel as a passionate romance, and that is why the book sells.

- Book of Love shot in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Palenque and Tuxtla Gutiérrez in the Mexican state of Chiapas between March and April 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming had been planned for the Canary Islands, but travel restrictions stopped Sam Claflin and the British producers entering Spain, so the production relocated to Mexico.
