Boogeyman (2005) on Netflix

Plot summary

Tim Jensen has lived with one fear since he was eight, when his father was taken from the family home by the Boogeyman. He sleeps on a mattress laid on the floor and keeps no closets in his apartment. His relationship with his girlfriend Jessica is moving forward, and after a Thanksgiving trip to her parents' house he has a premonition of his mother urging him to come home; then his uncle calls to say she has died. Tim returns to the psychiatric ward that housed him after his father was gone, where a young patient is frightened by something in the ceiling of her room. His psychiatrist suggests he spend a night in his old family house, and Tim agrees.
