Plot summary
Lindy's doctors tell her she has MRKH syndrome, a rare reproductive condition, discovered after she reaches sixteen without ever having had a period. They advise frequent use of uncomfortable vaginal dilators for months, or surgery. The news upends the plan she had made to have sex with Adam, her new boyfriend, and she cannot bring herself to tell him about the condition, so she avoids him. The diagnosis also unsettles her friendships at her new high school, including with her best friend, Vivian, and her relationship with her single mother, who tries to reconnect with her. Lindy runs on the school's track team.
