Plot summary

In 1887 in Colorado, three men and two women ride a horse-drawn stagecoach toward Denver, with a stop planned at a mining town along the way. A gunslinger joins them on the road because his own horse has gone lame. The town they arrive in stands empty, and a blood red moon hangs in the sky. Two outlaws fleeing the law after a bank robbery attack the travelers and hold them and the gunslinger hostage. Captors and captives alike then come under attack from something deadlier than the outlaws, a beast of myth that shows itself only on the night of a red moon.
