Plot summary
A maintenance worker is attacked at a roadside pipe about a week before Michael Parker arrives in a small lakeside town with his wife Cate, their daughter Nicole and their son Kyle. Michael has been given the job of bringing the lamprey population of Lake Charlevoix under control. Will, Rich and Marcy, of the local fish and wildlife department, tell him that the lampreys are feeding on the lake's fish and wiping them out. Mayor Bruce Akerman orders Michael to solve the problem so that tourists keep coming. Nicole, meanwhile, begins a summer fling with Alex, a local pool boy, and Michael tries to take his warning to the press.
