Plot summary
Norma Jeane grows up with a mother, Gladys, who is committed to a mental hospital while the girl is placed in an orphanage. Later she models under the name Marilyn Monroe and tries to break into acting, and a studio head called Mr. Z assaults her. An audition for Don't Bother to Knock wins her a part even though she breaks down. Her fame grows, and she takes Cass Chaplin and Eddy G. Robinson Jr as lovers at the same time. Her agent asks her to be seen with them less, which upsets her, because the Marilyn the public sees does not feel like her real self.
