Plot summary
When Air Force One goes down over Finland, President William Alan Moore is stranded in the wilds. Thirteen-year-old Oskari is in the forest on a hunt meant to prove to his kinsfolk that he is mature enough, tracking a deer, when he comes across an escape pod with Moore inside. The terrorists who brought the plane down are closing in on the two of them. Back at the Pentagon, the vice president, the head of the CIA and Herbert, a onetime CIA field officer, watch the events by satellite as the boy and the President try to stay clear of their hunters.

- In an October 2025 interview with Yle, Helander said he was disappointed with how Big Game turned out, as the tone changed from his original vision to being "too kind", and that he became too frustrated with Jackson's constant demands and mood swings, which he was not used to.
- The film's budget of €8.5 million, about US$10 million at the time, made it the most expensive film ever produced in Finland to that day, yet the wilderness scenes set in Finnish Lapland were shot in the Alps, with the rest filmed in Germany.
- According to Helander, the resentment and anger left over from Big Game were important factors in the creation of the script for his next film, Sisu.
