Plot summary
A summer of exams at the boarding school of Altenberg is what Bibi Blocksberg faces after her bad marks in math, and passing them is the only way to avoid repeating the year. Camping and white-water rafting are off. The young witch arrives at Altenberg Castle in a poor mood. Her roommate is touchy and obsessed with fashion, and headmaster Quirin Bartels is muddle-headed enough that he cannot keep his students' names straight. Bibi becomes friends with Elea, a girl who has used a wheelchair since an accident in which she also lost her parents, and Bibi sets out to find a way to heal Elea's legs.

- Most of the film was shot on the grounds of the Landesschule Pforta, and the church of the former monastery there served as the blue owls' chamber. Because a pentagram was formed in the church crossing for that scene, there were heated arguments between the school head and the school's pastor and religion teacher on one side and the film team on the other.
