Plot summary
Two policemen who came home from the war together ride the same Los Angeles prowl car at night. Rocky Barnes takes lawbreakers as they come, while Dan Purvis has no patience for any of them. Both are drawn to the voice of police radio communicator Kate Mallory, and in person Kate keeps her distance from men whose work can put a bullet in them. Chance puts the partners in the way of Ritchie Garris, a murderous racketeer, and the trouble the pair cause him makes an enemy who swears he will get even with them. Kate's mother urges her to give Rocky a chance.
