Plot summary

Ellie West is a single mother trying to break free of her deadbeat ex-husband, Jack West. Her boss, Sid, and her close friend Una are behind her when she meets Jesse Peter, a surgeon, at the consult for the outpatient surgery she has scheduled. She and Jesse move quickly into a relationship. In the operating room, under anesthesia, she has an unusual reaction that unsettles the lead anesthesiologist. Once she is out of surgery, Ellie keeps noticing odd signs that she and her daughter Autumn are in danger, though she cannot tell what they mean or whom she should distrust. Norman, a timid man who admires her, may hold the key to the alarms going off around her.
