Plot summary
The trip Richard Newton has planned, from Denver to a reunion of his relatives in California, replays a childhood road trip from 1967 in a large, modern RV. A cage arrives from his brother George holding Beethoven, the St. Bernard that the family is meant to hand over in California because the dog's owners cannot leave Europe. Beth and Brennan want no part of it, and Beth talks Richard into boarding Beethoven at a kennel. Two hackers, Tommy and William, hid stolen computer code on a DVD of The Shakiest Gun in the West, and they learn that Richard bought that disc for the trip. They trail the Newtons while Beethoven gets out of the kennel and hides on the RV's boat trailer.
