Johnny Duncan
Biography
Johnny Duncan was an American actor who started out as a swing dancer after learning the Jitterbug as a teenager. Born in New York City, he was 19 when he landed his first major dance role, in the Benny Goodman musical The Gang's All Here, a break that brought more film work, a contract with 20th Century Fox and appearances with Shirley Temple and Jane Withers. His notable roles included parts in The East Side Kids, The Bowery Boys and Mystery of the 13th Guest, and he played Dick Grayson, the Boy Wonder, in the 1949 serial Batman and Robin (1949), a part he won at twenty-five because he looked so young. He later took bit parts in films such as Plan 9 from Outer Space and appeared with the Black Rebels Motorcycle Club in The Wild One (1952), and his final screen appearance came in Spartacus (1960). He died in 2016.
