Plot summary
A summer trip to Lake Tahoe goes wrong for nine college students when the drive is cut short and they end up at Millie's Cherry Pie Inn and Diner, where Lawrence, his wife Milly and their grandson Jim take them in. The family belongs to a clan of Outlanders who keep to old ways and turn from everything modern. Dark and ancient forces are at work around the inn, and the three hosts, so welcoming and so ordinary, are not what they seem. The travelers, lulled by the welcome they receive, settle in with no sense of what surrounds them.
