Plot summary
The employer of John J. Anderson, an American hitman, sends him to Buenos Aires for a job. His contacts tell him the target is a former general from Argentina's last military dictatorship. A phone call brings news that the general was hurt in a riding accident, so the work is postponed. Angry and frustrated at being stuck in the city, Anderson walks the streets, where he hears music behind a red curtain and sees a woman dancing the tango with a man. Entranced by the dancing, he seeks out lessons, which leads him to Manuela, the tango dancer and instructor he saw there.
