Plot summary
Samira, a teacher from Sarajevo, takes a post in a remote village as the Bosnian War begins. Soldiers attack shortly after she arrives, killing the men of the village and holding the women in a makeshift brothel. The women held there face repeated rape and beatings. Samira is stripped of her possessions and threatened with death. The story comes from a novel Slavenka Drakulić published in 1999, which shares the film's title and deals with war rape during the Bosnian conflict.
