Plot summary
In late-1800s Ohio, Annie Oakley sells quail she has shot to a storekeeper, who supplies them to a Cincinnati hotel, where owner James MacIvor serves them at a banquet for sharpshooter Toby Walker. Jeff Hogarth signs Toby to Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. James arranges a shooting contest with a competitor called Andy Oakley, but Annie arrives instead. The match is tied and goes to sudden death; after her mother's remark, Annie purposely misses, giving Toby the win. Jeff follows Annie home, returns her money, and invites her to join the show. Annie, who loves Toby, accepts.
